OUR STORY

PAMERIC NJUNGWE

Celebrating 28 Years of Friendship

The Story of PAMERIC goes back 28 years, when the previously separate and individual destinies of Pam and Eric became intertwined forever. Since then, these two lovebirds have held true to their commitment to each other in ways that are admirable and inspiring to many others. Eric and Pam first met each other in the 20th Century. The exact year was 1995 and the ordained venue was the learning campus of one of the most preeminent academic institutions in Cameroon known as CCAS Kumba or Lycée de Kumba by its French appellation.

At that time, Eric had been a student in CCAS Kumba since 1990. On the other hand, Pam, a student of PHS Kumba who initially resisted transferring to CCAS Kumba to continue her education finally yielded to a call more powerful than human resistance. Little did she know that coming to CCAS Kumba would be in partial fulfillment of God’s plan for her life. As luck would have it, CCAS Kumba became a JACKPOT for Pam. Not only did Pam excel in her educational pursuit, it was in CCAS Kumba that Pam would meet her object of affection; love of her life; soulmate; father of her children; and above all, her husband, the one and only Dr. Eric Ngonji Njungwe. Pam and Eric were classmates for 3 years in CCAS Kumba, eventually graduating High School together before going to different Universities.
For Eric, the journey was more onerous than many know. Back then in the 20th Century, Eric was a very shy boy and was easily intimidated by the radiant beauty of a girl like Pam. In addition, his little Hausa Quarters/Fiango strategies were no match for a decent girl like Pam who held to very high moral standards. The journey was further complicated by the vigilance of Pam’s elder brothers who were omnipresent and overprotective of their kid sister.
Despite the difficulties of engaging in any sinister behavior in the early days, Pam and Eric developed a genuine friendship and secrete admiration for each other. They would visit each other and profess their likeness for each other to friends (mostly classmates) but never courageous enough to do so directly to each other. Nonetheless, it was evident to everyone around them that these two were becoming inseparable. At several instances, their classmates called them out to come clean and confess the true nature of their relationship.

After High School, Eric went to the University of Buea while Pam attended the University of Yaounde before traveling to the United States in 1998. Eric graduated from UB in the year 2000, went to South African to complete his Master’s Degree the following year and by 2002 was on a fellowship with the United Nations in the Netherlands. Throughout their physical separation, Pam and Eric remained close emotionally. Initially, they maintained contact through routine letter writing between Atlanta and Buea, and later email communication as that technology became available in Cameroon at the end of the 20th Century. Communications between the two became easier when Eric was in South Africa and Europe as the lovebirds would speak on the phone for hours. The deal was sealed when Pam visited Eric in Europe in December 2002, officially marking the dawn of a new beginning. Unable to function without Pam, Eric decided to move to the United States in 2003 and the two have remain inseparable ever since.

Eric and Pam have been happily married for over a decade and have three beautiful children: Jolie Njungwe, Eric Njungwe, and Anibelle Njungwe. This wedding ceremony is truly a celebration of the lasting friendship that has existed between these two individuals who first laid eyes on each other 28 years ago and have not gotten tired of looking at each other. They are each other’s closest confidant, main support system, primary mentor, and number one advocate. Eric and Pam have handled their roles as husband/father and wife/mother with dedication and grace while functioning in some unique ways. Eric functions more as the family’s MASTER PLANNER while Pam functions more as the family’s GUARDIAN ANGEL. Together, they are simply a formidable and trailblazing couple.
